GATEWAY'S RECEIVES 9 CT CRITICS CIRCLE NOMINATIONS

NEW FAIRFIELD - The Connecticut Critic's Circle announced nominations on June

3 for excellence for the 1996 season.

The Circle applauded Gateways's Candlewood Playhouse offerings often, as it

lavished a grand total of nine nominations on the New Fairfield theatre, just

starting its 31st season.

Alice M. Vienneau, who stars as Aldonza in Gateway's current Man of La Mancha

offering, was applauded for her stunning portrayal of Eva Peron in last

season's Evita .

Tommy , which the playhouse featured last fall, garnered nominations from

Outstanding Musical to a Best Actor in a Musical (Charles Dillon) and a Best

Director kudo for Dom Ruggiero. Additional Tommy nominations include Michael

Boyer for a set design, Chris J. Landy for lighting design, and Mark Clark and

Simon Matthews for sound design.

The Connecticut Critic's Circle also lavished recognition upon Ken Leigh

Rogers as Outstanding Director for his work on Evita , and Bob Durkin for

Outstanding Choreography for his fancy footwork on Seven Brides for Seven

Brothers.
