Richard Blomberg, Contractor

Dies At Age 62

Richard J. Blomberg, age 62, of Newtown, died October 8.

Mr Blomberg was born in Bridgeport and was a Newtown resident for 33 years. He

was a self-employed excavating contractor in Newtown.

He was a member of various gun clubs and automobile clubs.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Kay) Dyki Blomberg, of Newtown; one

son, Richard M. Blomberg, of Newtown; one daughter, Susan Waitt, of

Stockbridge, Mass.; his mother, Charlotte Mullins Blomberg of West Brookfield,

Mass.; two grandchildren, Shane Blomberg and India Waitt; two brothers, Donald

Blomberg of Bridgeport, and Pat Blomberg of Santa Belle, Fla.; four sisters,

Elizabeth VanSchleusengin of Fairfield, Lucille Sabas of Bridgeport, Dolores

Vasil of West Brookfield, Mass., and Eileen Shephard of Stuart, Fla; and

several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and

Emmitt Blomberg, and a sister, Anna Yurgilevich.

Funeral services were held on October 11 in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull

Funeral Home with the Reverend John K. Russell, pastor of Trumbull

Congregational Church officiating. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

James O'Day

James F. O'Day, age 79, of Fairfield, father of Christopher S. O'Day of Sandy

Hook, died Tuesday, October 10, in his home.

Mr O'Day was born in Medford, Mass., son of the late James P. and Emily

Reinecker O'Day.

Mr O'Day was a car and insurance salesman for most of his life.

He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran, a member of the Knights of

Columbus, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Fairfield Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Dunn O'Day of Fairfield; three sons, James

F. O'Day of Carson City, Nev., and Thomas K. O'Day of Bethlehem; four

daughters, Dawn Florez of Fairfield, Patricia Senior of West Newfield, Me.,

Sally Panigutti of Shelborne, Vt., and Joan O'Day of New York City; a brother

George O'Day of Woodruff, Wis.; two sisters, Meredith Specht of Roswell, Ga.,

and Joan O'Day Murphy of Whiting, N.J.; fourteen grandchildren; several nieces

and nephews.

Funeral services were held the morning of October 12 from the Spear Funeral

Home, Fairfield, to St. Piux's X Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
