with cuts: Health Fair Feature Attractions For All Ages
Residents of all ages found attractions at the annual Newtown Health and
Public Safety Fair Saturday, September 14 at Newtown Middle School. Adults
seemed to gravitate toward the free testing stations and booths that offered
samples, while the children had a difficult time deciding which to visit first
- the ambulance, the fire trucks, the Jaws of Life demonstration, Life Star
helicopter, the booth where they could enter a contest for a mountain bike, or
the big alligator that handed out stickers promoting good oral hygiene.
"I think it was an enormous success," said Mae Schmidle, who chaired the event
along with Dr Della Schmidt and Health District Director Mark Cooper. "The
turn out was just excellent."
Christine Dignam this is correct of Bear Hill Road won the mountain bike
donated by Bethel Cycle & Fitness Shop. The winners of the poster contest were
Adam Calderone (first place), Eric Bagger (second), and Thomas Cruson (third).
