`Children At The Door' Pulls Heart Strings And Purse Strings At Du Mouchelles'

DETROIT, MICH. -- DuMouchelle Art Galleries March sale was highlighted by many

exquisite paintings. The Henry Mosler oil on canvas entitled, "Children at the

Door," commanded a very impressive price of $20,000. Another successful

painting was an oil on canvas by the artist Myron Barlow which commanded a

high price of $13,000. The Eugene Remy Maes oil on canvas, "Sheep in a Barn,"

brought forth a bid of $6,000, and the J. Klar oil on canvas of a parlor scene

realized $4,000.

Other highlights of the March auction included the Handel "chipped ice"

pattern and reverse hand-painted table lamp which gained much attention, and

sparked spirited bidding across the country, finally settling at a bid of

$18,000. A ten piece Century Furniture Company, Grand Rapids Edwardian style

carved mahogany and burl walnut dining set clinched a winning bid of $12,000.

A rare Tiffany & Company sterling silver tea and coffee service made in France

sold for $7,500, and a Lionel electric train set with village garnered $3,750.

Also of interest in March was a 4.5 carats lady's diamond and platinum Art

Deco bracelet, circa 1915, which brought in a bid of $4,000. An Italian bridal

chest from the late Fifteenth Century was sold for $4,000, and a diamond and

platinum lapel watch, circa 1920, garnered $4,500.
