Frances E. Blood
Frances E. Blood, 74, wife of Donald Elmer Blood of Newtown, died on July 22
at Danbury Hospital after a long illness.
She was a resident of Newtown for 36 years. She was born Frances Elizabeth
Witkowski on November 19, 1924, in Bridgeport. She graduated from Roger Ludlow
High School in 1942 and from St Vincent's College of Nursing in 1945. She
worked 18 years at Ashlar of Newtown and retired in 1990.
She was survived by 11 children, Christine of Raleigh, N.C., Donna of Sandy
Hook, Sharon of Watertown, Richard of Newtown, Kathy of Sandy Hook, Michael of
Glastonbury, Paul of Woodbury, Cyndy of Naugatuck, Patricia of Brookfield,
Pamela of Danbury, Dawn of Sandy hook; six sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law;
16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and friends.
Funeral services were held on July 26 at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main
Street, Newtown. Burial was in Newtown Village Cemetery.

John P. McManus
John P. McManus, 91, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died July 24, at the Maridian extended
care facility Red Bank. He was the father of Patricia Colgan of Newtown.
Mr McManus was born on December 9, 1907, in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the
husband of the late Margaret Mary McManus.
Mr McManus moved to Brooklyn in 1926 and worked as a linotype machinist for
Appeal Printing Company in New York City, until his retirement. He was also a
professional soccer player for the Kearny Soccer Club from 1926 to 1940. Mr
McManus was a communicant for St Catherine's Roman Catholic Church in
Middletown, N.J.
Mr McManus is survived by three other daughters, Kathleen Sutherland of
Jacksonville, Fla., Margaret Higgins of Floral Park, N.Y., and Eileen Kenavan
of Middletown, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was celebrated on July 26 at St Catherine Church in
Middletown, N.J. The burial followed at the Fair View Cemetery in Middletown.

Donald H. Hensel
Donald H. Hensel, 64, husband of Joan (Husted) Hensel of 22 Glen Road, Sandy
Hook, died July 24 at the Bethel Healthcare Center.
He was born in the Bronx, New York, on September 3, 1935, a son of the late
Henry and Mabel (Blickly) Hensel.
A resident of Newtown for the past 42 years, Mr Hensel was a foreman at Curtis
Packaging Corporation in Sandy Hook and had been employed there for 40 years.
He served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald C. Hensel of Islip, L.I.,
N.Y., and Duane H. Hensel of New Milford; four daughters, Joanne Hensel and
Sharon Hensel, both of Danbury, Jane Babasick of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and
Marianne Golembeski of New Milford; three sisters, Patricia Giasullo of Port
St Lucie, Fla., Mabel Olden of East Sebago, Me., and Kathe Hurzeler of
Parsonfield, Me.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 27 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street,
Newtown. Burial will take place in Zoar Cemetery at the convenience of the
family.

Jeffrey S. Cavaliere
Jeffrey Scott Cavaliere, 36, of Ravenel, S.C., formerly of Newtown, died July
24, in Charleston, S.C., from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born in Bridgeport May 26, 1963, a son of Gerald Cavaliere of Newtown
and the late Linda (Wasik) Cavaliere Roe.
Mr Cavaliere was a resident of South Carolina the past two years and was
employed as a home builder.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Joseph Cavaliere of
Newtown; a brother, Gerald Cavaliere, Jr, and his wife, Linda of Newtown; a
sister, Joycelyn Kowats and her husband, Donald of Newtown; a nephew, Nicholas
Cavaliere; four nieces, Danielle and Gina Cavaliere and Sarah and Kristina
Kowats; and a close friend, Linda Burbage.
Funeral services were held on July 29 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street,
Newtown, and in St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was
in Resurrection Cemetery.
