Police Arrest Local Man In Heroin Probe
Police said that on August 11, town police and the state policeâs Statewide Narcotics Task Force were conducting a joint investigation into the sale of heroin in and around Newtown, which resulted in the arrest of a local man on multiple drug charges.
Police said they arrested Sean Surat, 26, of 25 Boggs Hill Road on two counts of possession of a narcotic, and one count each of possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and possession of a controlled substance.
âDuring this investigation, it was learned that a quantity of heroin was coming into Newtown, to be sold in and around the town of Newtown,â police said in a statement.
Surat was found with a quantity of heroin packaged and ready for sale, police said. Police did not disclose the amount of heroin that Surat allegedly possessed.
Also, Surat was found in possession of a few pills of commonly abused drugs, police said.
After arrest processing, Surat was released on $10,000 bail for an August 30 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
