DEVON, Pennsylvania â Some of the finest equestrian athletes in the world will gather at Dressage at Devon from Tuesday, September 25, through Sunday, September 30.
The six-day equestrian evcent is the highest-rated international dressage competition outside of Europe and combines four days of world-class dressage with the largest breed competition in the world.
Olympic medalist Robert Dover calls it, âthe standard by which all American horse shows should be judged.â
The show will open with the two-and-a-half day Breed Division, in which horse are judged for movement and conformation. More than 400 horses will compete in 52 classes, including 16 individual breed classes.
There will also be a four-day Performance Division.
In addition to the competition, Dressage at Devon will include special exhibitions such as border collies herding sheep, a Western reining demonstration, and a dozen llamas in costume performing a drill to the music of John Philip Sousa and Elton John.
Dressage at Devon benefits Thorncroft Therapeutic Horseback Riding, Inc., and has raised some $600,000 since 1991.
