Fall Day Trips Being Offered By Mattatuck Museum

WATERBURY — In response to the public’s enthusiastic response to their summer day trips, Mattatuck Museum has planned two very special trips for this fall.

The first trip, on Sat, Sept 16, is to the Boston Museum of Fine Art for the van Gogh exhibit. A chartered bus will leave the museum at 7:45 am and arrive at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston at 10:30 for the tour.

Lunch is on your own at one of the museum’s restaurants. Departure time will be 3:30, for a 6:00 pm arrival back at the Mattatuck. Cost is $75 per person.

The second trip, on Saturday, October 28, is a day for lovers of art, opera and fine dining. Again, a bus will depart from the Mattatuck Museum, this time at 7:30 am, and arrive in New York City at The Whitney Museum at 9:30 am for a guided tour of the Edward Steichen retrospective.

At 11:15, participants will leave The Whitney for lunch at one of the city’s finest restaurants, Coco Pazza. Then it will be off to Lincoln Center for the New York City Opera’s production of La Traviata.

The bus will leave for Waterbury at 4:30, arriving back at the museum at approximately 6:30 pm. Cost is $175.

Seating is limited for both trips, and early reservations are strongly suggested. To reserve seats or for further information, call the Mattatuck Museum at 203/753-0381, extension 10. The museum is at 144 West Main Street in Waterbury.
