A Loud, New Competition
 At Bethlehem Fair This Year
BETHLEHEM â Bethlehem Fair will sponsor its first ever âHollerinâ Contestâ at 10 am on Sunday, September 10, in the woodchopping area of Bethlehem Fairgrounds.
Three separate classes will be judged: men, women and kids under the age of 15. First place winners in each class will receive $25; second prize is $20; and third prize, $15. Sign-ups start at 9:30. There is no entry fee for the contest other than general admission to the fair.
In the first round, entrants will be given a script to holler. The top five winners of the first round will continue to the final round.
In the final round, the entrants will be given a premise and asked to holler an appropriate response. Judging will be on originality of the holler script, creativity of the presentation, and loudness.
âThis will be a fun activity which the entire family can participate in and enjoy. We believe this is the only hollering contest in Connecticut, so the winners will be designated the Connecticut State Hollerinâ Champs,â said Elaine Brodeur, president this year of Bethlehem Fair.
The 76th Bethlehem Fair will be held September 8-10 at Bethlehem Fairgrounds, on Route 61. Hours are 5 to 10 pm on Friday, 8 am to 10 pm on Saturday, and 8 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Admission to the fair is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors on Saturday and Sunday. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Free parking is available.
