To Enter Work For Mattatuck Show
WATERBURY â The Mattatuck Museum invites all artists maintaining a studio or residence in Connecticut to enter âThe Connecticut Vision 2000: Juried Art Show.â The museumâs last juried show attracted over 400 entries, with 60 chosen for the exhibition.
This yearâs show will open with an artistsâ opening celebration on September 30 and will then run through November 19. The juror will be Douglas Hyland, the director of New Britain Museum of American Art.
Artists may submit one or two works. A non-refundable entry fee, which entitles the artist to a one-year membership as an artist associate at The Mattatuck Museum, is $15 for the first work and $10 for the second.
Receiving dates for artwork are Friday, September 22, and Saturday, September 23, between 10 am and 5 pm. Artwork not chosen for the exhibit must be picked up on Saturday, September 30, between 3 and 7:30 pm, or Monday, October 2, between 10 am and 5 pm.
Artwork suitable for hanging on the wall must be prepared for hanging. Three-dimensional works must be delivered to the museum with suitable bases labeled with the artistâs name.
All works should be smaller than 60 inches in the largest dimension. Works may be available for sale at the artistâs discretion. A 25 percent commission will be deducted from the purchase of works sold.
Donated prizes include $500 in portfolio services by photographer Randy Clark; $200 cash prize donated by West Wind Studio of Washington; a $100 cash prize donated by Beaux Arts Gallery and Framing of Woodbury; a $100 certificate for art supplies at Koenig Art Stores of Southbury, Danbury and Newtown; a $60 certificate for color enlargements at Digital Images and Darkroom Services of Waterbury; and a studio art class of the winnerâs choosing from the roster of artistsâ classes at Washington Art Association of Washington.
Artists submitting entries will be notified by mail of the jurorâs decision.
