Constance May Bradley Leach

Cherished And Loved By All Who Knew Her

Constance May Bradley Leach, 70, died peacefully at her home in Walterboro, S.C., August 22, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born May 28, 1940, daughter of Claribel and LeRoy Bradley of Canton, Conn. She was a direct descendent of John Hart, a founding father of Hartford, and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Her husband of 25 years, Kenneth R. Leach, of Walterboro; a daughter, Suzanne M. Davenport and her husband, Bob, of Sandy Hook; four grandchildren; two brothers; and several cousins survive her. Her parents; a brother; and her son William LeRoy Tullock-Baker predeceased Mrs Leach.

Mrs Leach worked for many years as a keypunch operator, assistant to real estate agents, and as a librarian for the Charleston County Public Library. She then pursued her interests as a modern Renaissance woman. She loved sewing, walking on the beach, and gardening. She was a voracious reader and became friends with people at various libraries. Mrs Leach traced her family genealogy both online and through hours on the back roads of Connecticut with her daughter.

Mrs Leach provided comfort and touched thousands of lives through her donations and gifts of her handmade quilts to the Veteran’s Home, the Project Linus group, the Winyah Community Hospice Care, and other organizations throughout the Charleston area.

A service for Mrs Leach at Center Cemetery, Colebrook, Conn., will take place at a later date.
