A Classic Comedy As A

Community Theatre Project

WATERBURY — The Stage II Community Theatre division of Seven Angels Theatre will present this season’s community theatre production for two weekends this month. Mame, the classic musical comedy, will be on stage the weekends of September 8-10 and 15-17.

Based on the novel and play Auntie Mame — a true story — Mamefollows the life of a charismatic woman during the 1920s to 1940s. The music of Mame, which includes the tunes the title song, “Open A New Window,” “Bosom Buddies” and “If You Walked Into My Life,” made Angela Lansbury famous when the production debuted on Broadway, and the feature film went on to star Lucille Ball and Robert Preston.

The Seven Angels cast members include actors and actresses who reside in the greater Waterbury area, the Housatonic Valley and Litchfield County.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, with Sunday matinees at 2. All tickets are $15 if purchased in advance, or $17 at the door.

Seven Angels Theatre is in Hamilton Park, on Plank Road in Waterbury. Call the theatre’s box office, 203/757-4676, for reservations or additional information.
