Doris Capponi
Doris (McLean) Capponi, 75, of 3 Oakridge Road, Bethel, died August 27 at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family. She was the loving wife of Frank Capponi and the sister of Barbara Simon of Newtown.
Mrs Capponi was born on December 4, 1924, in Rumford, Maine, a daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Worthley) McLean of Mexico. She resided in Mexico with her husband, Frank, and later moved to Newtown and finally to Bethel where she was a resident for 38 years.
Mrs Capponi was a very active businesswoman. She was employed by Dr M.J. Brooks and Dr H.L. Noyes in Rumford and later worked at Danbury Hospital in Danbury and Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown. She was the former owner of the Stony Hill Gift Shop in Bethel. She also operated a ceramics business and held classes for many students to enjoy throughout the years.
In addition to her husband and sister, survivors include a son, Frank Capponi, Jr, of Southbury; three granddaughters, Kimberly, Melinda, and Bambi; two brothers, William McLean of Bethel and Frank McLean of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held August 30 from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, and in St Maryâs Church, Bethel, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery.
