Mayra Mesa Joins Safe At Home Pet Care Service
Mayra Mesa Joins Safe At Home Pet Care Service
Safe at Home LLC, an in-home pet care service in Newtown, has announced the addition of Mayra Mesa to its staff of professional, insured and bonded animal care specialists.
Mayra Mesa brings to Safe at Home her extensive experience as a volunteer handler/walker for Canine Advocates, a non-profit Newtown-based group organized to assist the local dog pound with the quality of life, safety, and health of the dogs at the pound. As pound dogs run the gamut of personalities, sizes, and types, Ms Mesa has encountered a wide variety of pet handling situations, experience that is invaluable in her pet sitting and daily dog walking services. An animal lover, she frequently uses body massage on dogs as a stress reducer.
âSpending extra time trying to ease any stress a pet may feel while the owner is away is an essential part of being a pet sitter,â she explained.
A graduate of the University of Miami, Mayra Mesa lives in Brookfield with her husband and two dogs, Corky, a German Shepherd mix, and Dutch, a Brittany spaniel recently adopted from the Newtown pound. If she happens to encounter a Chihuahua or French poodle in her travels, she can speak to them in their ânative tongues,â because she is fluent in both Spanish and French.
Safe at Homeâs midday dog walking division is devoted exclusively to working families whose pets are alone all day and need an extra walk, attention, or exercise. Safe at Home also services clients who are on vacation and are looking for an alternative to boarding. The service cares for pets in their home environments and also provides overnight in-home pet care through local veterinary technician affiliates.
Safe at Home, founded by Newtown resident Adria L. Henderson, owner and director, has more than 335 pet-sitting and midday dog walking clients in Newtown, Bethel, and Monroe. A former owner of a boarding kennel, Ms Henderson has more than 25 yearsâ experience training, handling, and working with pets. She currently contributes to the âAnimal Lifestylesâ column in The Bee. An active member of Pet Sitters International, she is a board member of Canine Advocates and has a private investigatorâs license with the State of Connecticut.
All Safe at Home clients have access to free telephone consultations with Ms Henderson regarding their petâs behavior, training, nutrition, and other pet-related topics.
With Safe at Homeâs recent expansion, openings are available for animal care specialists in Monroe, Bethel, and Newtown. For more information call Safe at Home at 426-5784.
