Tasting Greater Danbury’s Food & Music Scenes

DANBURY — The 15th annual Taste of Greater Danbury will be held Sunday, September 9, from noon until 7 pm, on the Danbury Green in City Center Danbury. This year’s festival will feature specialties from Ciao!, Colorado Brewery, The Cookhouse, Desert Moon, Exchange Club, Lemonade Lucy, Ma and Pa’s Traveling Kitchen, Mimi’s, Nick’s, Roving Cajun, Sheraton, Sit Down Diner, Two Steps Downtown Grille, and Tuxedo Junction.

Included among the more than 100 taste-tantalizing offerings will be stuffed portabello mushrooms, ziti with vodka sauce, pasta primavera, barbecue, stuffed eggplant, gumbo, jambalaya, and, of course, grinders, hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, Italian ice, fried dough, and other favorites.

Free performances by The Sophisticats; The Easton Banjo Society; the classic rock group Wayne King; children’s entertainer Ms Janine; and other entertainers will take place throughout the day. Face painting, sand art, and other activities will also be ongoing.

More than 25 area not-for-profit organizations will have community information tables set up. Friends of the Danbury Library will have books for sale. The Registrars of Voters will have a table to register voters.

A raffle offering restaurant and other gift certificates will be held.

There is no admission charge. All food will be sold by ticket only. Ticket booths will be set up throughout the festival area. Tickets are 50 cents each and all food and beverage items will be priced in 50-cent increments.

Ives Street and Delay Street (from White Street to Independence Way) will be closed to automobile traffic. Parking in the Patriot Garage can be accessed from Patriot Drive and will cost $3 for the day. Additional parking available in the Amphenol lot on Kennedy Avenue.

By order of the City of Danbury Health Department animals are not allowed at the festival. The rain date is Sunday, September 16. For more information call 792-5095.
