John James âJackâ Stokes (formerly Szoke), 60, of Sandy Hook, died August 21. He was the husband of Karen Jean (Delancey) Stokes. Mr Stokes was born in Bridgeport, June 11, 1949, a son of Winola (Gowen) and James J. Stokes.
 He was an Eagle Scout and was a veteran of the US Navy, having served on the carrier USS John F. Kennedy from 1969 to 1973. Mr Stokes was the longtime manager of the Potatuck Club in Sandy Hook. He was a fine carpenter, marksman, hunter, and fisherman. He recently finished restoring a 1979 T-Top Corvette.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Mr Stokes is survived by two daughters, Suzanne A. Stokes of Effort, Penn., and Sarah J. Stokes of Sandy Hook; a grandson; three sisters; two brothers; a niece; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 28, at the Potatuck Club, 100 Wasserman Way, Sandy Hook, at 5 pm, where Jack lived and worked for the past 25 years. For further information call Sarah at 203-460-7875.
