BRIDGEPORT â The Workshop in Business Opportunities is now accepting applications for its tuition-free course for people interested in starting or strengthening their own business. The only expense is $49, which covers the course workbook.
Successful business owners and senior executives will conduct a 16-week workshop, âHow to Build A Growing, Profitable Business,â at Family Services Woodfield in Bridgeport. Classes will begin on September 7 and will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 pm.
The Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO), also known as the boot camp for entrepreneurs, started its first class in Harlem, N.Y., 33 years ago and today has locations across the country and abroad. More than 3,000 WIBO graduates now run businesses ranging from one person to multi-million dollar operations.
WIBO classes are comprehensive, covering every aspect of running a business: Getting Started, Gaining A Competitive Edge, Market Research, Developing Customers, Selling, Pricing, Publicity, Purchasing, Credit and Collections, Human Resources, Sources of Finance, Business Ethics, and more. At the end of the sixteen weeks, students receive a WIBO certificate of completion and, more importantly, have a detailed business plan. WIBO graduates are entitled to free lifetime consulting services from an extended faculty of over 700 business owners.
Family Services Woodfield is one of the oldest and most comprehensive human service agencies in Connecticut. The breadth of FSWâs vision, combined with its understanding of how families and communities work and interact, dovetails with WIBOâs goal of extending real and lasting economic power through entrepreneurship.
