Dinner And Conversation With Julia And Jacques
NEW HAVEN â Legendary chefs Julia Child and Jacques Pepin will visit New Haven for a special event to benefit Long Wharf Theatre on Friday, September 15.
The evening will begin at New Haven Lawn Club at 5:30 pm with a wine and cheese reception followed by an informal conversation in the clubâs ballroom. The eveningâs program will feature topics chosen by Mrs Child and Mr Pepin as well as a question and answer period.
The event will culminate at Union League Café, where guests will dine with the two chefs.
Mrs Child and Mr Pepin are currently the hosts of the acclaimed public television series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home. Each has his and her own illustrious culinary career spanning half a century.
One of the worldâs most beloved chefs, Julia Child brought the art of French cuisine into Americaâs kitchens with The French Chef, which first aired in 1963. After some 200 programs in classical French cooking, she branched out into contemporary cuisine with Julia Child and Company, followed by Dinner at Juliaâs. In recent years, she has served as host for the Master Chefs series.
A definitive expert on the art of cooking, she has written such mainstay cookbooks at The French Chef Cookbook, From Juliaâs Kitchen and The Way to Cook.
Jacques Pepin is also one of Americaâs best-known chefs. In addition to Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home, he has also hosted two series with his daughter, Jacques Pepinâs Kitchen: Cooking with Claudine, and Jacques Pepinâs Kitchen: Encore with Claudine. Each 26-show series has a companion cookbook.
