To the Editor,
I need to correct a mis-statement to focus on the integrity of the Bridgewater Fair competition. It was written that a prize-winning quilt featured patterns or blocks that had been purchased at a tag sale for $4.
I want to assure the judges that this was not accurate. While an old tattered quilt of a New Britain, CT, friend had been found at a tag sale, only a paper pattern was made from this old design. The new quilt, called âCoxcomb,â was made from new fabric, took one year to applique and quilt, and then entered into this yearâs fair competition. The cost was more than $4. Friends have seen the work in progress, but I want the public and the judges to know that the quilt entered this year was new and made by hand.
