Program Looks At Medicine

And The Rain Forest

SOUTHBURY — A program about the Ethnomedicine Preservation Project in the Amazonian Rain Forest will be held when the Connecticut Women’s Alliance (WHA), home of the Women’s Health Alliance, holds its 17th meeting on Thursday, September 7, at 6 pm at Southbury Imaging.

Dr Mary Miller will give a slide presentation about the project. A presentation of the Andes and the Machu Picchu (healing mountain) will take place in the near future.

The WHA was founded and established in 1992 by Jeana Shakra and three other members with the intention of providing high quality healthcare and specific resources for the special needs of patients. As the WHA has grown, it has directed a forum for women in the health professions. Now it is expanding to include women in diverse professions. The Connecticut Women’s Alliance invites all women to join, participate, educate, and network with one another as well as with the public.

Health is a critical center of our lives, but there are other aspects that encompass the whole being, explained Jeana Shakra.

Southbury Imaging is located at 800 Main Street South, east entrance.
