State To Honor Women Voters

Of 1920s

The Secretary of State’s office, along with cooperating organizations, will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the right to vote on Thursday, September 14.

There will be a ceremony at the hall of the House of Representatives at the State Capitol from 7 to 9 pm with a reception to follow in the Hall of Flags.

If you are or know of any women 101 years of age or older who first voted in the 1920s, send their names and addresses to the Secretary of State’s Office, c/o Marisa Morello, 30 Trinity Street, Hartford, CT 06115.

If you would like to attend and need transportation, contact Alice Saxton, president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Newtown, at 426-7728.
