It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of John J. Marcinek, beloved husband, father, and friend from Sandy Hook, who died on August 28 at the age of 64.

A man of quiet strength and an open heart, he met each day — even the hardest ones — with kindness, grace, and a spark of optimism that lifted those around him. His thoughtfulness, generosity, and quiet humor touched the lives of all who knew him.

He leaves behind his cherished wife, Joanne, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life, and two adored children, Elizabeth and Michael, who were his greatest pride and joy. For him, caring for and providing for his family was life’s most important calling — the purpose that guided his every effort, whether at work or at home. He is also survived by two loving brothers, Fred (Carolyn) Marcinek of Snohomish, Washington and Dan Marcinek of Austin, Texas whose bond remained strong throughout his life. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Marcinek, whose memory he carried close to his heart.

As a dedicated software engineer, he poured creativity, and integrity into every project, leaving behind not just work well done, but work done with heart. Outside the office, he found joy and connection on the Disc Golf course, where friendly competition and shared laughter meant as much as the game itself. And he was, unfailingly, a loyal fan of the New York Football Giants — a devotion that spoke to his enduring patience and eternal hope, season after season.

Though his time with us was far too short, he leaves a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and love — and the example of how to meet life’s challenges with dignity, humor, and an unshakable belief in brighter days ahead.

A private memorial will be held to honor his life, and we will share details when arrangements are complete.

John Marcinek.
