Bicycle Found
Police are seeking the owner of a bicycle that was found on Hyvue Drive, near its intersection with Birch Hill Road, on the evening of August 26.
Police described it as a BMX-style bicycle with chrome parts and a black seat. The bike bears the model name, âThruster FSP-300.â
 The bikeâs owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich or Patrol Officer Richard Monckton at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the bicycle.
Hazardous Location
Police report a two-vehicle accident in front of Booth Library at 25 Main Street about 5:30 pm on August 25.
Motorist Susanne Reilly, 36, of 10 Winter Ridge Road, who was driving a 2003 Acura MDX SUV carrying three child passengers, was pulling out of a driveway at the library, as motorist Harsha Mehta, 48, of Monroe was driving a 2008 Subaru Outback station wagon southward on Main Street, police said.
Reilly told police that her view of Main Street was obstructed by a vehicle parked along the street, so she slowly rolled forward to get a better view of the street, but in doing so, the Acura collided with the approaching Subaru, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Reilly a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.
Tractor-Trailer
A witness called police about 8:22 am on August 28 to report that a tractor-trailer truck traveling on Sherman Street, at its intersection with Sugarloaf Road, collided with some guardrailing, damaging the guardrailing.
The unknown trucker who was involved in that collision left the scene before police arrived, police said.
Hattertown Break
Sometime between 10:30 am and noon on August 24, someone forcibly broke into a home on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Merlin Lane, and stole unspecified items from the premises, police said.
The incident constitutes third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny, involving the theft of items worth between $500 and $1,000. Police are investigating.
Mercedes Vs Audi
About 8:23 am August 28, motorist Barbara Hayes, 59, of Southbury, who was driving a 2007 Audi A-4 sedan, was exiting an Exit 10 off-ramp of Interstate 84 and then stopped at a traffic signal at the end of the ramp at its intersection with Church Hill Road, police said.
Motorist Paula Minor, 55, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-320 station wagon, then struck the rear end of the Audi, police said.
There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Minor for following too closely.
Dispute
Police said they received a report of a physical dispute between neighbors at the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park at 55 Sugar Street about 4:30 pm August 29, so they went there to investigate.
After investigating, police charged two men with breach of peace. They are William Betts, 37, of Unit 25, and Michael Clark, 46, of Unit 34.
Police released both men from custody on written promises to appear September 16 in Danbury Superior Court.
Fruit Pastry
About 8:10 am August 30, police received a report on the theft of an apple turnover from the Super Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, so they went there to investigate, police said.
Police said that in their investigation they located suspect James Howard, 32, of 19 Botsford Hill Road near 271 South Main Street, after which they charged Howard with sixth-degree larceny for his alleged theft of the fruit pastry.
Police released Howard on a written promise to appear in court on September 12.
DUI Arrest
While conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Dodgingtown Road (Route 302) in Dodgingtown Center on the night of August 29, police stopped motorist Edward Dudley, 39, of 71 Hattertown Road at about 8:49 pm.
Police said their investigation led them to charge Dudley with driving under the influence and with driving with a suspended license.
After arrest processing at the police station, police released Dudley on $300 bail for a September 16 court appearance.
Three MV Charges
During patrol duty on the night of September 1, police spotted a minivan traveling eastward on Church Hill Road with a broken headlamp, so they stopped the driver to investigate.
After investigating, police charged motorist Victor Blanco, 29, of Hartford with driving with an inoperable headlamp, driving with a suspended license, and misuse of marker plates.
Police released Blanco from custody on $100 bail for a September 16 court appearance.
Dump Truck
An accident involving a dump truck and a sedan occurred on Wasserman Way, near the Exit 11 ramps for Interstate 84, at about 2:48 pm August 29.
Police said westbound trucker Alan Tonnessen, 61, of Southbury, who was driving a 1986 Chevrolet dump truck, attempted to pass westbound motorist Mary Frobey, 51, of 39 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 2005 Honda Accord sedan.
In attempting to pass the sedan in slow-moving traffic, the truck damaged the sedanâs left exterior rear-view mirror, police said. There were no injuries.
Police said they verbally warned Tonnessen for failure to drive to the right.
Baby Carrier
On the afternoon of Labor Day, September 1, someone turned over to police for safekeeping a knapsack-style baby carrier that they had found lying near the town memorial at the intersection of Main Street and Hanover Road.
The carrier apparently was left there by someone who had been watching the Labor Day Parade. Police described the device as a Kelty Kids Tour-brand carrier, which is black, red, blue, and gray.

Big Theft
Police report a house burglary in which more than $25,000 worth of items were stolen.
Police said that sometime between 8 am and 3:30 pm on August 29, someone illegally entered a home on Currituck Road and stole items including jewelry, a television set, and video game systems.
The crime constitutes first-degree larceny and third-degree burglary, both of which are felonies. Police ask anyone with information on the crime to contact Officer Michael McGowan at 426-5841.
Vandalism
Sometime between 10 pm August 30, and 8:40 am August 31, someone knocked a residential mailbox off its post in front of a home at 79 High Rock Road, police report.
Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer John McCluskey at 426-5841.
