Nutmeg Book Discussion: Warriors by Joseph Bruchac will be the next book discussed in our Nutmeg series on Wednesday, September 27, beginning at 4 pm.

Jake has left the reservation for Weltimore Academy and entered a different world. Everyone there loves lacrosse, but no one understands it the way Jake does, as an Iroquois. And no one understands Jake either.

Readers in grades 4-6 are welcome to join the hour-long discussion.

Young Adult Programs

Let_s talk about Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Twelve-year-old Meggie learns

that her father, who repairs and binds books for a living, can “read”

fictional characters to life when one of those characters abducts them and

tries to force him into service.  Grades 5 and up please join us on

Wednesday, September 13 from 4:00-5:00 in the Story Room.  Sign up at the

*Let’s Talk About: The next YA BookTalk will be on Wednesday, September 13, from 4 to 5 pm, in the Story Room.

Adult Programs

*Summer Concerts Finale: Join us at The Pleasance on Friday, September 8, for the last of our free summer concerts.

The Golden Angels Jazz Band will be playing that evening. Showtime is 7 pm, and there is no admission charge. Picnic under the stars with friends and neighbors.

In the event of rain the concert will be moved into the meeting room at the library.

*Book discussions: Upcoming programs include September 11, a discussion of Women of The Silk by Gail Tsukiyama, starting at 1 pm; September 12 at 1 pm, Rising Tide by John Barry; and September 21 at 7:30 pm, Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. Newcomers are always welcome.

*Wellness Series: The library will host a six-part series, “Enhancing Wellness,” on consecutive Tuesdays, September 12 to October 17. Come learn a few easy ways to take care of yourself and your family, reduce stress, and promote inner peace.

Each program will run from 7 to 9 pm. The schedule is as follows: September 12, “Massage and Jin Shin Jitsu”; September 19, “Yoga”; September 26, “Centering and Creativity”; October 3, “Relieving Stress with a Spa Experience at Home”; October 10, “Botanical Medicine”; and October 17, “Nutrition.”

*Celebrating Book Groups: C.H. Booth Library is planning a party and reception celebrating all of the book groups in town.

Please call  the library 426-4533 with the name of a contact person so we can get your input and include your book group in the fun.

*Book Nook Notes: Did you miss the library’s book sale this year? It’s not too late to pick up some great deals on gently used books that have been donated to the library. Best sellers, collectibles, children’s books plus lots more are always available at the Nook at unbeatable prices. Come in for a visit soon.
