Collision In Parking Lot
Newtown Police report Jackson Chiappetta, 20, of Newtown, operating a 2017 Toyota Rav4, was traveling northbound in the parking lot of Caraluzzi’s at 5 Queen Street at 10:51 am August 23. Sarah Brownell, 71, of Roxbury, operating a 2019 Audi A4, was traveling northbound in the same lot in a different parking aisle. Both drivers attempted to enter the driveway to exit the lot and collided.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
No enforcement action was taken since the incident occurred on private property.
Ran Into Building
Newtown Police report Chantal Fisher, 76, of Southbury, operating a 2010 Ford Focus, was traveling northbound on South Main Street at 9:32 am August 26. Fisher’s vehicle ran off the roadway right, ran over the median, and drove partially into the building at 71 South Main Street.
Fisher was transported to Danbury Hospital for a suspected minor injury. The vehicle was towed.
Fisher was issued a verbal warning for making a restricted turn.

Failure To Obey Stop Sign
Newtown Police report Cynthia Guzman, 33, of Newtown, operating a 2011 Honda Pilot, was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Elm Drive and Sugar Street at 3:38 pm August 27. Howard Sears, 55, of Southbury, operating a 2007 Nissan Altima, was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street. Guzman started to turn left onto Sugar Street and struck Sears’ vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Guzman was issued a verbal warning for failure to obey a stop sign.
