Bringing Newtown Together
Bringing Newtown Together
To the Editor:
Each year, the Labor Day Parade brings Newtown residents together to celebrate all aspects of our community, state, and country. This year was no exception. In fact, I have never been more energized by the spirit of all those involved. Whether you marched in the parade or graciously cheered as we walked by, we all shared in this Newtown tradition that is coveted by people both near and far.
As I made my way down the route, I was reminded of how special Newtown is and how grateful we should all be to live in such a supportive and inclusive community.
This past weekend we reminded each other, neighbor-to-neighbor, of all the things important to our town. Everything from religious freedom and acceptance to youth programming was showcased along the parade route, allowing both participants and spectators the great opportunity to support one another and highlight the importance of unity during a time when division seems all too popular.
Thank you, Beth Caldwell and the parade committee for all that you continue to do to keep us united and marching in step with one another.
All my best,
Chris Lyddy
