Classical Music, Fine Wines And Gardens Tours: Mozart, Merlot & Mums
Returning Saturday Afternoon For Kevinâs Community Center
Eight years ago, Dr Z. Michael Taweh and his wife Jocelyn founded Kevinâs Community Center, a free medical clinic whose mission is to provide health care to underinsured and uninsured residents over the age of 18. The clinic provides $500,000 of free quality medical services annually thanks to the generosity of dedicated volunteers, doctors and nurses, an extensive network of healthcare providers, the town of Newtown, local businesses and caring residents.
On Saturday, September 11, from 4 to 7 pm, Kevinâs Community Center will hold its annual âMozart, Merlot and Mums â An Exquisite Trilogy of Classical Music, Fine Wines and Garden Tours.â Hosting the event for the third consecutive year are and Shane Miller of 50 Main Street (a/k/a The Budd House).
Sandy Hook Wine & Liquor will coordinate the wine selection in conjunction with Opici Wine Company of Connecticut .
Several local restaurants will offer a variety of ethnic cuisines, there will be a silent auction showcasing the best of Newtownâs benefactors, and Mr Millerâs gardens will be open for tours. A glass of champagne will be offered to everyone upon arrival.
This yearâs event is dedicated to the late Newtown resident Richard Serbagi, who was an ardent supporter and friend of Kevinâs Community Center leading several benefit concerts on KCCâs behalf. This yearâs music program will include several accomplished musicians including Midhat Sergbagi (Richardâs brother), Lindsey Jones, Melissa Westgate, and Michael Conard. Sandy Hook musician Doug Wahlberg will also be among those providing music during the fundraiser.
Tickets are $30 and available at Sandy Hook Wine and Liquor, Drug Center Pharmacy, Lexington Gardens, Dodgingtown Market, Blue Z Coffeehouse, UK Gourmet and C.H. Booth Library.
If needed, a rain date is scheduled for September 12. Call board member Michael Ronan at 203-733-9186 or visit KevinsCommunityCenter.org for additional information, especially in the event of rain on Saturday.
