Lichtenstein Lecture At Aldrich Museum
Lichtenstein Lecture At Aldrich Museum
RIDGEFIELD â Ridgefielder Gary Lichtensteinâs career as a master printer, painter and fine art publisher is the focus of the current exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, âGary Lichtenstein: 35 Years of Screenprinting.â Mr Lichtenstein will participate in a discussion on the screenmaking process on Wednesday, September 15, between 11 am and 1 pm, as part of The Aldrichâs Brown Bag Tour series.
While a student in San Francisco in the early 1970s, Lichtenstein became a studio assistant to the artist Robert Fried, who designed many of the iconic Fillmore posters which defined that era in rock and roll. Lichtenstein opened his own studio in San Francisco in 1978, eventually returning to his home state of Connecticut in 1998. He has produced prints for and/or collaborated with artists such as Tom Christopher, Robert Cottingham, Robert Indiana, Gary Panter and Joanne Greenbaum.
Brown Bag participants will have a docent-led tour, followed by lunch and a discussion with Lichtenstein; they should bring lunch and drink, and the museum will provide coffee, tea and dessert.
Admission is $7 ($5 for museum members). For additional information, call 203-438-4519 or visit AldrichAart.org.
