Youth Arrested On Charges Stemming From Accident
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, a 17-year-old boy turned himself over to police at the police station on the morning of September 5, and was charged with two offenses in connection with an early morning motor vehicle accident on Bridle Path Trail on August 3.
Bridle Path Trail is a dead-end street extending from Orchard Hill Road.
State law shields the identities of people under age 18 who are charged in such cases.
Police arrested the boy on charges of evading responsibility and violation of the stateâs driving curfew for people under age 18.
The arrest stems from a hit-and-run accident in which an adult male pedestrian was injured about 2 am on August 3, according to police. That man, who lives on Bridle Path Trail, had heard some vandalism occurring outside his residence and then went outdoors to check the area, police have said.
In the course of events, that man was struck by a motor vehicle whose driver then drove away from the scene, police have said. The manâs injuries included abrasions to his head, arms, knees, right hand, and left hip, plus lacerations to his feet.
Ambulance volunteers transported the injured man to Danbury Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries at the emergency room and then released.
After arrest processing, police released the youth on September 5 a written promise to appear on September 20 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court. Such court proceedings are not public.
