Auditions For A Traditional British Panto At Little Theatre
Auditions For A Traditional
British Panto At Little Theatre
Town Players of Newtown announce a casting call for the traditional British panto Puss in Boots, by Damien Trasler, David Lovesy and Steve Clark. Paul Tocco will direct the local production, with Mary Poile as executive director.
Auditions will be Monday and Tuesday, September 15 and 16, beginning at 7 pm each night for children and 7:30 for adults.
Not to be confused with pantomime, panto is anything but quiet. It is a zany romp through a well-known story filled with laughter, audience participation and some very strange characters. Pantos are traditionally performed at Christmastime.
Performance dates for this panto have been scheduled for weekends, November 28 to December 13, Friday and Saturday nights, with Sunday afternoon matinees on November 30 and December 7.
This is a play with music, but not a musical. Actors are required to sing, but they donât have to be singers. The directors are looking for people not afraid to âgo over the top.â
Details about the principal cast and their characterizations are available at danbury.org/TownPlayers. On the home page is a presentation of the shows for the 2008 season; within the listing for Traditional British Christmas Panto is audition information and a More Info link that offers full cast details.
The directors are also seeking stage hands and tech crew for this production. Experience is helpful but not necessary; training will be provided. Anyone interested is invited to visit the theater during the auditions or contact the theater.
