Flagpole Photographers Invite Newcomers

To New Season Of Programs

At its first meeting of the season — Thursday, September 18, at 7:30 pm, in the C.H. Booth Library meeting room — the Flagpole Camera Club members and guests will note many changes for the coming year.

Rui Desousa assumes the presidency, the monthly competitions will be expanded somewhat in that each member may enter photos in three categories, and three judges will be used throughout the year for the competitions (in the past there was one different judge each month). The judges have been coordinated by Jim Talarino and are members of other western Connecticut camera clubs. In addition to the club’s new president, other officers elected in June were Don Brooks, vice president (and outgoing president); Ed Siciliano, treasurer; and Anne Eigen and Sara Frampton, secretary and newsletter duties.

The categories for the September meeting will be “Nature” (no “hand of man” can be seen in the photo), both as is and digitally enhanced, and “open.” The competition is open to members only, who may enter prints or slides.

Anyone interested in photography regardless of skill level is eligible to join the club. Except at the September meeting, a program of interest or education is usually part of the club’s activities. The club, along with Candlewood Club in Danbury, purchased a new digital projector for use by program presenters this year.

Additional information is available at the club’s website, FlagpolePhotographers.com, or from Mr Brooks, 270-9469.
