Jean M. Leahy, 69, previously of Newtown, died September 6 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Wallingford. Mrs Leahy was the wife of the late William R. Leahy. She was born in Melrose, Mass., February 24, 1939, a daughter of Grafton and Lois Crocker, and was raised there. She was a resident of Newtown from 1968 to 1994 before moving to Lake Bomoseen, Vt.

 Mrs Leahy was a graduate of the Children’s Hospital Nursing School in Boston and earned a BSN with high honors from Western Connecticut State University. She also was a magna cum lade graduate of the master’s degree program in psychiatric nursing of Pace University. She was nursing supervisor at the Greater Bridgeport Mental Health Center before her retirement.

Mrs Leahy is survived by two sons, Timothy Leahy and his wife, Jennifer, of Windsor Locks and Christopher Leahy and his wife, Michele, of North Andover, Mass.; a daughter, Julie Lenkowski and her husband, David, of Middlebury; a sister, Shirley Corcoran and her husband, Donald “Cookie,” of Melrose, Mass.; six grandchildren, Molly, Demi, Will, Emma, Olivia, and Aidan; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, September 10. Interment followed in St Rose Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington CT 06037.
