Newtown Historical Society Presents Lecture On Eleanor Roosevelt
Newtown Historical Society is announcing its upcoming lecture, “Eleanor Roosevelt,” presented by historian and educator Mark Albertson. The program will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2 pm at Newtown Senior Center, 8 Simpson Street.
Albertson, a well-known lecturer on history and politics, has addressed the Historical Society on several occasions, bringing his deep knowledge and engaging style to a wide range of topics. In this talk, he turns his attention to the remarkable life of Eleanor Roosevelt.
Often remembered primarily as First Lady, Roosevelt was far more than a figure of the White House. She was a humanitarian, diplomat, author, and tireless advocate for civil rights and social justice. Albertson’s lecture will follow her story from her early years through her lifelong commitment to public service, painting a vivid picture of one of the most influential women of the twentieth century.
Although the Historical Society traditionally hosts its lecture series at C.H. Booth Library, the current renovations there have prompted a temporary move to the Senior Center. This convenient venue will provide a comfortable space for the community to enjoy the program. To access the Senior Center, please enter through the front entrance of the Community Center, and follow the signs from the main lobby.
As always, this event is free and open to the public, and all are welcome. Donations to support the Historical Society’s programs and preservation work will be gratefully accepted.
