Bee Into SUV

Police said that motorist Christina Migliaro, 47, of Monroe was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse SUV with two passengers westward near 292 Berkshire Road (Route 34) at about 11 am on September 8, when a bee flew into the vehicle’s interior.

Migliaro then lost control of the SUV and struck an embankment along the right road shoulder, damaging the vehicle, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they verbally warned Migliaro for making a restricted turn.

Trespassing Charges

Police said that they responded about 5:43 pm on September 7, to a report concerning a suspicious vehicle parked at 44 Swamp Road at the site of the former Batchelder aluminum smelting plant.

Police said they found two people on the property, which is posted against trespassing. Police said they issued both John Matthews, 18, of 18 Hyvue Drive, and an unidentified youth under age 18 infractions on a charge of simple trespassing. Such infractions carry a fine or may be appealed in court.

Court Appearance

Police report that they went to the residence of Charles Allen Dos Santos, 38, of Bethel about 9:30 pm on September 10 and served a warrant against him charging him with failure to respond to an infraction, possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said that they had issued Dos Santos an infraction on the marijuana and the paraphernalia charges on January 15 in Newtown, but Dos Santos did not either pay the fines involved or appeal the charges in court, so they obtained a warrant for his arrest, which now requires him to appear in Danbury Superior Court to respond to the charges.

Dos Santos was released on $310 bail for a September 25 court appearance, police said.

Subaru Vs Pole

At about 11:47 pm on September 7, motorist Christopher Sherwood, 26, of Fairfield was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy station wagon southward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Turkey Roost Road, when Sherwood drove off the road’s right shoulder and struck a utility pole, police said.

Sherwood was not injured. Police said they issued him an infraction on charges of making a restricted turn and illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving.
