Local legendary band Panacea held another annual reunion performance in the pavilion at Dickinson Memorial Park on Sunday, August 31.

Guests were encouraged to donate nonperishables to The Bridget Seaman Memorial FAITH Food Pantry Drive. Prior to her death in April 2021, Seaman was known to pass around a “Flat Bridget” cutout in homage to Jeff Brown’s Flat Stanley book series as a way of encouraging attendees to make donations for the food pantry.

After she passed away Panacea renamed the annual collection in her memory. A large amount of goods was donated and, according to Panacea band member and event organizer Leslie Ballard, $190 in donations was also received.

"As always, people were really generous with the food and nonperishable donations," Ballard told The Newtown Bee. "The donation table was loaded with bags and boxes. Jim Shpunt volunteers at the pantry, and at the end of the [afternoon] he loaded it all in his truck to deliver for us."

The Crazy Taco-Mex food truck provided a wide variety of offerings. Concurrent to the event, the Newtown High School Class of 1975 also held its 50th anniversary reunion.
