Art In A Garden

RIDGEFIELD — Metal sculpture by the artist Stephen Cote will be on display at The Garden of Ideas through the end of October.

The Garden of Ideas is a stroll garden and plant nursery. Visitors will find specimen trees, native shrubs and perennials, exotic plant combinations and delicious vegetables thriving on a ten-acre plot only three miles outside the village of Ridgefield.

Guests can stroll the grounds, watch wildlife and get horticultural/design advice from experts.

Mr Cote has received many awards and accolades for his work. His unique combination of strength and whimsy are cited by many critics.

The private garden is open to visitors on weekends, from 10 am to 4 pm, during the growing season; group and private tours can be arranged. The Garden of Ideas is also a retail nursery specializing in unusual plants, and a garden design firm.

In addition to Mr Cote’s temporary display, the garden regularly features outdoor sculpture and poetry. Mr Keller and Ms Svendsen have constructed poetry boards, which hang on garden sheds and display verse in the garden. Poets represented include Mary Oliver, Thomas Hardy, Derek Mahon, Charles Wright, Louis Simpson, William Stafford, and Carlos Drummond de Andrade.

The Garden of Ideas is on Route 116 in Ridgefield. Call 203-431-9914 or visit GardenOfIdeas.com for additional information.
