Member In Trumbull

Constance Duggan Unger, 84, of Trumbull, beloved mother of Susan Rooney of Newtown, died September 13 at the Maefair Health Care Center. Mrs Unger was born in Bridgeport, daughter of John and Mary Dixon Duggan and had been a Trumbull resident for 53 years.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs Unger is survived by three loving grandchildren, Constance Schmiedecke and her husband, Donald, of Oxford, William Rooney and wife, Amy, of Newtown, and Claire Marie Rooney of Brookfield; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John M. Duggan, and two sisters, Marie Fredericks and Eileen Voorhees.

She was a graduate of St Charles School and Harding High School, Bridgeport, and had attended Fairfield University. She was retired as sales manager and vice president for the Cornwall & Patterson Company. Mrs Unger served as an active member of the Trumbull Women’s Club, Tashua Knolls Golf Association “Nine Holers,” Confraternity of St Theresa Parish, Council of Catholic Women, St Vincent’s Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary, League of St Joseph’s Manor, and the Country Bowlers.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, at 9:15 am, from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, and 10 am in St Theresa Church, Trumbull, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St Michael’s Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled for Thursday, September 14, from 3 to 7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in her memory to Connecticut VNA, 680 Bridgeport Avenue, 3rd Floor, Shelton CT 06484.
