One-Day Sunflower Painting Class
One-Day Sunflower Painting Class
WOODBURY â A special one-day program of painting sunflowers will be offered at Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust on Sunday, September 24, from 1 to 4 pm. The workshop is designed for those with intermediate to advanced art experience. Â
A unique opportunity to study nature and art as artists have done for centuries, in the out-of-doors, the session will be taught by seasoned area artist and arts educator Marija Pavlovich McCarthy.
The aim of this session is to have students complete at least one sunflower painting in any medium after the one-day session.
Cost is $25 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Participants are asked to bring their own art materials.
Ms McCarthy has painted and taught art for the past 40 years and has had over 25 individual exhibits. Hundreds of her paintings have been collected by private, corporate and congressional patrons. She teaches landscape painting at Washington Art Association and at Flanders during the summer.
She is represented by Woodbury Antiques and Fine Arts Gallery, and is affiliated with the Copley Society of Boston, New England Watercolor Association, Â CT Watercolor Association, and The Paint and Clay Club of New Haven. Her artwork is currently part of a ânew acquisitionâ display at New Britain Museum of American Art.
