Boys U14

Goshen 6, Strikers 2 – Goshen scored three second half goals to defeat the Strikers 6-2 in the season opener. The Strikers fought back twice in the first half to tie the game with goals from Mike Terlaga (a 25-yard stunner which beat the Goshen keeper all hands up) and a hard low shot by Austin Jones on an assist from Stephen Zarifis. Michael Renz, George Delia, James Radcliffe and Daniel Hufziger were strong in defense, while Liam Ferguson and Russell Morgan battled in midfield. Strikers goalkeepers Aaron Nezvesky and Christian Gregoire both performed well.

Boys U12

Cobras 6, Brookfield 0 – The Cobras began the defense of their Northwest District crown with a decisive victory over neighboring rival Brookfield. Connor Quinn, Christian Mather, Eric Fiore, Sam Langdon, Danny Bittman and Richard Greenwood (also with an assist) scored the goals. Pieter Martino, Andrew Kelley, Stephen Conway and Matt Rahtelli anchored the D.

Boys U10

White Lightning 4, Berkshire United 2 – Clay Gattey scored three goals and Brenton Scott added one to lead the White Lightning to the win. Sawyer Conrad, Kaj Djonne and Kevin Droniak each had assists as Luca Imbimbo, Knute Johnson and Ryan King controlled the D. Kevin Ovendorf and Colin Reilly split goalie duties and were fantastic.

Girls U10

Lightning 1, Southbury 0 – Sarah Lynch scored the lone goal late in the second half to lead the Lightning to the season-opening win. Kailee Dunnigan provided the assist. Siena Cicarelli anchored the nets while Shelby Tolla and Jessica Keller had strong offensive games for the Lightning.

Girls U14

Newtown 4, Danbury 3 – Courtney Beckett, Jessica McDonald, Emma Iannini all scored to lead Newtown past Danbury. Kyra Murray and Nicole Haghpanah provided assists as Emma Sabin, Emily Rowe and Jessica McDonald played great in goal.

Purple Pirates 1, Sharpshooters 0 – Jillian Thompson scored the lone goal to lift the Pirates to the win. Becca Silveira and Mara Scallon held the Sharpshooters scoreless for the game. Lauren Pettinelli, Tami Corsi and Alyssa Finkenstadt played well. For the ‘Shooters, Megan Foy and Zoe Eggleston played excellent on offense while Alessandra Delia had a solid game in goal and Sarah McMahon played well on defense.

Boys U14

Meteors 3, Raiders 2 – Kieran Lardner scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Meteors to the win. Chad Cullens and Jack McManus also scored while Doug Brede and Hunter Moore played well on D. For the Raiders, Craig Frigon and Ryan Pisani scored and Mike Greenwood notched an assist. Ryan LeMay and William Carr had solid games.

Liverpool 6, Couch Potatoes 2 – Colin Cooper scored four goals as Liverpool rolled to the win. Josh Branchflower and Justin Weiner were both strong in goal and Jacob Locorotondo anchored a strong defense.  For the Potatoes, Grant Ricketts and Francis Saraceni scored goals while goalie Patrick Riccardi and Francesco Biancardi played well on D.

TNT 5, Team (#1) 1 – Mike Terlaga scored a pair of goals to lift TNT to the win. Devin DiNicola, Peter Kerns and Christian Barrett also scored. For Team #1, Kevin Dill scored the lone goal as Tyler Coleman and Nick Snyder played hard in the midfield and Andrew Bonvini anchored the defense.

Girls U10

Nighthawks 1, Gladiators 0 – Portia Baudisch scored the lone goal to lead the Nighthawks to the win. Amanda Mele, Renee Henriques and Bailey Smith played well. For the Gladiators, Raquel Crespo, Rachel Saint, Kacey Caplan and Stephanie Devaney had strong performances.

Strikers 4, Mad Monkeys 0 – Kelsey Muniz scored a pair of goals to lead the Strikers. Emily Davis and Brenna Kelly also scored while Tanner Tardie and A’ine Duffy played well in net. Michelle Zarifis was strong on defense. For the Monkeys, Kirsten Yapp had a great game. Caitlin Filiato and Veronica Moyer were good on offense and Emily Jerris played well on defense.

Team (#6) 2, Team (#2) 2 – Kerry Scanlon scored twice for Team #6 in this 2-2 draw. Ashley Marks was solid on offense and defense while Aoife Flanagan and Rebecca Grant played well. For Team #2, Brianna Baranowski and Hannah Booth scored as Megan Milano and Makenzie Casey had strong games.

Boys U10

Team Tolson 3, Huskies 2 – Dillon Palumbo scored two goals and Tim Kelly added one to lead Team Tolson to the win. Mustafa Sakhi and Jeremy Doski played well in goal to preserve the win. For the Huskies, Jordan Abraham and Alex Gerbo both scored as Jared Brady and Anthony Vournazos anchored the D.

Yankees 4, Huskies 0 – Wesley Morlock, Alec Beauchemin, Christian Morlock and Mitchell Stewart all netted goals to lead the Yankees to the win. Danny Toby providing a strong defensive effort. For the Huskies, Nicholas Klein and Travis Hanna provided speed on offense while Zachary Pollock and Matt Barra played a solid defense.

Wolverines 4, Hurricanes 1 – Zachary Waller (2), Harry Solaski and Matt Wood scored the goals to lift the Wolverines to the win. Thomas Rahr was exceptional on defense. Cole Rogalin scored for the Hurricanes, with great defense from Raymond Xue and Patrick McGowan in goal.

Boys U8

Torpedoes 6, Yankees 2 – Christopher Healy scored three goals to lift the Torpedoes past the Yankees. James Carney, Cal Creeden and Matt Stewart also scored. Sam Cox and Declan Sullivan each contributed a goal a piece for the Yankees while John Luke was strong in goal.

Team (#7) 3, Rockets 1 – Richard Ciamarra, Josh Houle, and Bryce Mather scored goals for Team #7 and Jamie Cochrane and Austin Engler played great overall games. Thomas Gavel scored for the Rockets as Alex Hess and Lucas Ladestro played good overall games.

Lightning Bolts 1, Team (#6) 1 – Dylan Kretz scored for the Bolts and Nicholas Genovese scored for Team #6 in a 1-1 draw. For the Bolts, John McCann was strong in goal, Ben Dieckman and Ryan Norton played great on defense and Matthew Bucci was excellent on offense. For Team #6, Forrest Weatherby sparkled on offense, Kieran Lynch and Korey Brodsky were very good on defense, Erik Benson was solid in goal.

Girls U8

Superchargers 1, Tigers 1 – Mason Melillo scoring for the ‘Chargers while Ryan Brello, Andri Henn and Ian Kepanckiy played well. Grant Obre-Untiedt evened the score for the Tigers and was backed by strong games from Kendall Ashby, Christopher Blanco and Quinn Browne.

Mustangs 6, Team (#8) 3 – Nevan Gattey scored five goals to power the Mustangs. Nicole Russo added one while Lauren King, Allison Idelicato and Sarah MacMullen each had assists. Alana Murray and Amy Pruner anchored the D and Lauren Beier was great in goal.

Happy Hippos 5, Fighting Irish 1 – Katrina Ringes scored three goals and Marina Renzi and Meghan Doyle added a goal apiece to lead the Hippos. Olivia Caplan played a great all-around game. For the Fighting Irish, Amanda Wikramanayake scored a goal and Lyndsey Francisco played outstanding in the net while Alexandra Manoni and Megan Goyda had strong performances.

Harkins Heroes 3, Killers 0 – Casey Harkins, Cassidy Keller and Emily Charash all scored goals to lead the Heroes. Colleen McCarthy had two assists on the day. For the Killers, Stefanie Carr played great on offense, Anna Biondi sparked the D and Caroline Condon and Amanda Donovan played well all-around.

Funky Monkeys 7, Huskies 4 – Lucy Helgren and Quinn Karp scored two goals apiece in an offensive slugfest. Makenna Cerney, Kendra Dunnigan and Kaitlyn Linden each scored once. For the Huskies, Katie Laaksonen and Celia Gold each had two goals while Sydney Flint had a solid all around performance.
