Shop For A Cause — The Newtown Youth Services’ High School Youth Advisory Board Members will be selling tickets for shopping at Macy’s special Support for Nonprofit Organizations Sale Day. The date is Saturday, September 16, from 9 am to 10 pm. Purchase a ticket from any YAB member for $5 and 100 percent of the proceeds will got to its Scholarship Fund.

Ticket holders will be entitled to a 20 percent discount off purchases and for every $50 spent, receive a $10 coupon for use at a future date. For ticket information, call Newtown Youth Services at 270-4335.

Youth Programs

The High School Youth Advisory Board (YAB) will hold its first meeting on Monday, September 18, at 2 pm, in the high school cafeteria. This is a community service focused group and all high school students are welcome. The upcoming Halloween Party for Kids will be one of the main topics of discussion.

Children of Divorce — First meeting on Monday, October 16, from 6 to 7 pm, at Newtown Youth Services. This group is open to students in grades one through six.

Sibshops — This group is for children who have a brother or sister with special needs. First meeting will be Monday, October 30, from 5 to 7 pm, also for students in grades one through six.

There is no fee for any of the above groups.

Parent Programs

Moms of Infants — Newborn to one year will meet on Tuesdays, beginning September 26, and run for ten weeks. This group will be held from 10:30 to 11:30. Fee is $25.

Gym Time — Walkers to preschool will meet on Thursdays, for ten weeks, at the Edmond Town Hall Gym from 9:30 to 11:30 and the fee is $30.

Support Groups

Hope and Support meets on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Parents or guardians with questions or concerns about a child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances are welcome to attend this group.

Grandparents’ Group — The Second Time Around: Raising Your Children’s Children is an ongoing support program. This group meets Wednesdays 12 to 1:30 pm. There is no fee.
