Newtown Wolfpack 7, Monroe 1: Newtown started off the season with a dominating win barely allowing Monroe to cross midfield, and keeping constant pressure on the goalie. Karsen Pirone got the scoring started off a nice pass from Faith OâHara. Sarah Tressler knocked the next one in off a corner kick deflection. Jackie Matthews then scored two in a row with runs from the midfield. Isabella Manfredi added another goal off an assist from Kaley Meisenheimer. Monroe finally got on the board halfway through the second half, then Karsen scored her second goal and Manfredi added her second for the final score of the game off a direct kick. The defense that shut down Monroe was led by Kaitlyn King, Hannah Daly, Colleen Phaneuf, and Malia Gioffre. Hannah Groonell and Laura Augenbraun each played a half in goal and were outstanding.

Dynamite 1, Darien 1: The girls had a strong offensive presence with Rebecca Gavelâs play and shots by Katie Sailer, Brooke Antous, Jenna Lavelle, and Lauren Carrino. Keeley Kortze made a cross to Lauren Adams who knocked the ball into the net for the first goal of the game. Lauren Carrino had multiple saves in the first half for the Dynamite squad. Audrey Benson and Grace Corcoran were strong on defense with Lindsay Merrifield and Lu Hage helping out on offense and defense. In the second half goalie Kristen Cirone made some heart-stopping saves, but a Darien player managed to slip one past the Newtown defense for the tie late in the game.
Newtown Sparks 9, New Canaan Blue 3: The Newtown Sparks dominated on offense in their season opener at home, scoring eight goals in the first half. The Sparks moved the ball in front of the New Canaan goal with precision passing and ball control throughout the half. Just one shot slipped by Sparks goalie Jackie Seras. First-half goals were scored by Emily Celentano (3), Emma Curtis, Angela Vodola, Carly Swierbut, Nathalie Schickendantz, and Veronica Vodola. New Canaan had two goals in the second half against Sparks goalies Swierbut and Angela Vodola. The sparksâ ninth goal was scored late in the second half by Swierbut.

Vipers 5, Westport 1: Outstanding defensive effort by Danny Schreiber and goalies, CJ Trivers and Travis Huzina held Westport to only one goal. Dylan Sock scored a hat-trick, Adam Farley scored two, and Bryce Bisset contributed on offense in the win.
U12
Titans 6, Norwalk 0: Early in the first half, Christian Adam raced up the field and scored the first goal of the game. The next goal was scored by John Finnegan in a stunning leap over the opposing goalie set up by an assist by Jack Oltran. Thomas Skrelja skillfully dribbled the ball for the third goal. A well-placed goal by Nicholas Weiland in a strategic set up by Silas Decker added to the lead. Daniel Arneth assisted in the fourth goal by sliding into the ball that was then shot into goal by Jack Oltran. Henry Petrillo scored the final goal on a corner kick by Nick Weiland. James Barden, Jack Armstrong, and Santiago Forero put on a strong defense. Aiden OâLeary and Grant Larson had strong performances with well-placed corner kicks and by centering the ball throughout the game. William Skrelja did double duty marking up in midfield and defense. Michael Greenspan had some nice saves on defensive and goalie JT Lewis had his first shutout performance of the season.
