Pediatric Seminar Set For Oct. 6

SHELTON — Some of New England’s foremost experts in child behavior and developmental pediatrics will take part in the 27th annual Maxwell Bogin Lecture in Pediatrics, 8 am to 3 pm, October 6, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 780 Bridgeport Avenue, Shelton.

Sponsored by Bridgeport Hospital the theme of this year’s lecture, “Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics,” is intended for health care professionals who provide primary care to infants and children. Continuing medical education credit is available.

For a registration form, call the Bridgeport Hospital Department of Pediatrics at 203-384-3712.

“As pediatricians, child behavior and development are a large part of what we do,” explained Dr Thomas Kennedy, Bridgeport Hospital’s chairman of pediatrics. “Just like the rest of medicine, approaches and interventions change with time and we want to be certain we are familiar and comfortable with what is current.”

Topics at the lecture include “Pediatricians, Parenting and Interactions: Relationship Patterns of a Lifetime”; “It’s an Autistic Spectrum Disorder: What Do We Do Now?”; “Psychopharmacology for Children: What the Pediatrician Needs to Know”; “Skilled Observation: The Eye Only Sees What the Mind Knows”; and “Unraveling Common Childhood Behavioral Problems.”

Established in 1978, the Bogin Lecture honors the memory of Dr Maxwell Bogin, Bridgeport Hospital’s chairman of pediatrics from 1948 to 1967.
