How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived here for ten years. We moved from Danbury.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love, in winter, to ski. Thatâs one thing we do as a family. We start together, we meet up together on the slopes. Itâs my favorite thing to do in winter. I love to read âbubble gumâ novels, like those by Nicholas Sparks. Iâve tried knitting, not so successfullyâ¦. I like to spend time by our pool, in summer, with family and friends.
Do you have a favorite book? I would have to say The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. I love a Christmas read at the holidays, and I got to experience this author in a genre I enjoy. It wasnât his typical book. It was just a great story.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? My favorite, for that tropical weather, is Hawaii. But every summer we go to our family place up at Ocean Point, Maine, and that is the best. Weâre right on the water and thereâs a calmness there. Itâs been in the family for 100 years, so itâs like having a blanket wrapped around you, and you donât get bogged down in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
What is the best thing about Newtown? Itâs the sense of community, and the personality of Main Street. It changes with the seasons, and even with the time of day.
If you could travel to the past or future, which would you pick? I would go to the past â for one, Iâd be younger! But really, just so I could do certain things differently: taking risks I was afraid to take, career choices I made. Iâd travel a little more before having kids. And I would want to experience living in another part of the United States. Iâve always lived in Connecticut, and I wish I had lived somewhere different for a while.
Do you have a personal philosophy? Think about how you would feel if you were treated that way, when dealing with other people.
What makes you happy? When I feel most at peace with myself. Then Iâm able to spread that on to my husband, kids, and friends. Then I can be my best for them.
