Open Call For Handcrafts, Affordable Art

WOODBURY — On Saturday, October 2, from noon to 4 pm, New Morning Natural & Organic will host an open call for handmade crafts and affordable art. New Morning is looking for a select number of items to sell on consignment during the holiday season.

Artists are invited to bring one to three samples of their wares — including unique handmade goods, pottery or glassware, framed artwork, useful and fun housewares and gadgets, basketry, beautifully crafted knitwear, wearable art or accessories — for consideration.

Some jewelry may be accepted during this special event, but capacity is very limited in this category so artisans should keep that in mind when considering the open call.

Organizers are always looking for a clever use of recycled or found materials. They cannot take any food unless it’s prepared in a certified commercial kitchen.

Crafters may be asked to leave an item for review, in which case an artist will need to provide their cost. Artists will be notified by phone or email by October 9 with a decision.

New Morning Natural & Organic, a  holistic retail center that features natural, organic and eco-friendly products, is at 738 Main Street South (Route 6) in Woodbury, within Middle Quarter Mall. The store is open daily.

Those participating in the open call for handmade crafts and affordable art should look for the entrance on the right side of the building, off the main entrance.
