Stroke Awareness And Support Talk Scheduled

SOUTHBURY — Stroke awareness will be discussed at a free program open to the public on Monday, September 20, at 11 am, in the library at the Jewish Federation, 444 Main Street North. The presentation features The Heart Center of Greater Waterbury’s clinical nurse specialist Sandra Micalizzi, APRN, CDE, and is sponsored by Brownstein Jewish Family Service.

Stroke is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States. The causes, risk factors, and different types of stroke will be discussed by Ms Micalizzi, as well as how quick actions can prevent a disability or save your or someone else’s life.

Attendees can learn what to do when a stroke strikes and how to cope with the effects of stroke, as well as meet with other area residents whose lives have been affected by “nature’s karate chop”.

Due to limited seating, register with Debby Horowitz at 203-267-3177, extension 105. This program is made possible through a grant from the Margaret A. Hallden Fund at the Connecticut Community Foundation through the American Heart Association.
