The Parade Is For (Non-Voting) Kids
To the Editor:
The Newtown Parade Committee has stated that the parade is getting too long. So to shorten the parade theyâve limited all businesses to just three vehicles in the line of march. Itâs too bad the volunteer fire companies in town fell into this category. Thatâs right: per the Parade Committee the town fire companies are considered a business.
If the Parade Committee wants to shorten the parade, letâs do something about the 600 or so marchers that destroyed our hometown parade this year. The 600 Iâm talking about are the politicians and their supporters.
The parade is for the kids, not for the adults, and the kids canât vote. While at the parade I spoke with approximately 20 adults and everyone said the same thing...get rid of the politicians, we donât need them in the parade.
