Newtown Foundation Seeking Support For December Vigil
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, December 11, a service of mourning and loving remembrance for all who have fallen victim to the ongoing epidemic of gun violence will take place at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
The Newtown Foundation plans to bring families of victims and survivors of gun violence from Newtown and around the country to the vigil at the Cathedral. In order to transport families to Washington, D.C., however, funding is needed.
“Please help us shine a light on the human toll of gun violence and show the families we care,” said Newtown Foundation chairman Po Murray. “Even a symbolic donation of $26 will help. Larger contributions will help us fund buses and other transportation for families of victims,” she said.
According to the Newtown Foundation, by December of 2014, the two-year anniversary of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, an estimated 60,000 more Americans will have died from gun violence.
