Bloom Seeks Support For Council
To The Editor:
My name is Jordana Bloom and I’m writing to ask for your support for my candidacy for the Legislative Council in District 2.
My family and I have called Newtown home for 23 years, and each year my dedication to our wonderful community grows. My husband and I raised four children who attended Newtown public schools. Also, I am a proud employee of the C.H. Booth Library, one of Newtown’s best community resources. As a manager of fundraising and community outreach, I love that my job allows me to continue some of Newtown’s greatest traditions, like the annual Turkey Trot, and start new traditions like “After Hours” game nights and Trivia!
I have also previously served three terms on the Legislative Council, and currently act as Vice Chair of the Council, Chairman of the Ordinance Subcommittee, and a member of the Education Subcommittee. I am proud that this year, we passed the budget on the first try. This is not only the result of the Council’s efforts, but is also a credit to the fact that more and more people are participating in our meetings and speaking about issues they care about. Seeing growing participation in our town government is incredibly encouraging, and I’m excited to continue fostering this engagement.
My priorities for Newtown are simple but essential: fighting for greater resources for our schools, encouraging more women and underrepresented groups to participate in town government, and preserving our town’s unique residential and business character. We have some financial challenges to face together in the coming years that will require the grit and dedication of experienced leaders: I would love to be one of them
I have been fortunate to work with many outstanding people during my eight years as an active participant in Newtown government. I would be honored to continue working alongside these fellow enthusiastic public servants toward a shared goal of further strengthening Newtown.
Thank you so much for your support, and please reach out to me if you have any comments or questions.
