To The Editor:

As a Newtown resident, I care deeply about the character of those who lead our town. This election is about more than politics. It is about trust, integrity, and respect for our democracy. That is why I am supporting Bruce Walczak for First Selectman. I humbly offer the following thoughts for why all residents, no matter your background or political views, would benefit from Bruce’s leadership.

Young people should support Bruce because he is fighting for our schools and our future. As my husband and I soon hope to raise our family in Newtown, I trust nobody more than Bruce to foster a family friendly community. Bruce will ensure our schools remain strong and that opportunity in Newtown does not come at the expense of affordability. He is a relentless advocate for our next generation.

Veterans should support Bruce because he embodies service, discipline, and respect. As a combat veteran who served as a US Army helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, I know that Bruce possesses the qualities that inspire trust among those who have worn the uniform. He listens. He responds. He honors sacrifice. Under Bruce’s leadership, veterans and their families will have an advocate as First Selectman.

Seniors should support Bruce because he honors those who have made Newtown so special. He recognizes the rising cost of living and how it threatens the livelihoods of seniors. Bruce will fight for a responsible budget that keeps Newtown a place where seniors can thrive.

And to all who care about the future of Newtown, Bruce is the candidate for First Selectman who will lead with honesty, transparency, and compassion. Bruce Walczak is exactly the kind of good person our town deserves.
