Neil Chaudhary for Police Commissioner
To The Editor:
Newtown has an opportunity in the upcoming November elections to return a truly qualified candidate to the Police Commission. I am speaking of course about traffic safety scientist Dr Neil Chaudhary, who will add tremendous expertise to this important non-partisan town commission. In addition to this expertise, Neil is practical and works well both with other group members and the public he serves.
As many know, the Police Commission is Newtown’s traffic authority. I had the good fortune to work with Neil on the Commission a couple of years ago and was impressed by Neil’s technical knowledge and practical expertise in matters not only related to traffic issues, which came up often in our meetings, but of his willingness to listen to all viewpoints and work toward arriving at solutions beneficial to both the town and the individual citizen.
In addition to prior Police Commission service, Neil currently serves on Connecticut’s Department of Motor Vehicles’ Safe Teen Driving Task Force, the Department of Transportation’s Occupant Protection committee as well as its DUI Task Force. This type of expertise and experience will serve Newtown well and I encourage others to join me in voting for Neil for the Police Commission this November.
